Project Description
This Visual Studio ALM Ranger project has the primary goal of delivering scenario based and hands-on guidance for managing your Microsoft Test Manager test plans, test cases and shared steps when going to the next sprint, next release and when working with
multiple code branches. The guidance will help you:
- Minimize test plan creation overhead
- Get the reporting you expect
- Create and maintain baselines for test results and test cases

What is included in the downloads?
The solution is divided in separate packages to give you the choice of selective downloads. The default download is the first of the listed packages:
- Guidance contains scenario based practical guidance, procedures and frequently asked questions.
- Hands-on Labs contains the HOLs that provides a walkthrough of each scenario:
- Sprint to Sprint
- Release to Release
- Working with Multiple Code Branches
The
Epics included in the guidance are:
- I would like to know how my work item baseline classification approach impacts test release management
- I would like guidance on test case planning, management, execution and reporting when going from sprint to sprint
- I would like guidance on test case planning, management, execution and reporting when going from release to release
- I would like guidance on test case planning, management, execution and reporting when moving a feature through the branching guidelines scenarios
Future (Planned)
- Epic: I would like tooling that automates the test plan and work item transitions needed to support test release management.
